How did the onions grow? I've found they'll grow that way, but I get better results if I let them sit in a glass of water for a few days, allowing the roots to double in length. Then I plant them. Thanks for this recipe! I know it's old, but I'm trying it tonight.

I just made this almost same thing ! I had to make 5 spice. I only had dried shiitake mushrooms. I added ginger and after I browned my pork I added a bit of shoaxing wine to deglaze. I didn’t have bamboos shoots, but had diced water chestnuts. I also added a few Thai red chilis because I like heat. Girl! I love this. I also added a tiny bit of oyster sauce. Party in my mouth. Thanks for the inspiration! 😘🤗
